Several years ago, I'd been trying to find an approach to software consulting that made sense for me. I'd also been watching a lot of Queer Eye. Thinking about the former, while watching the latter, something clicked: a Queer Eye "make better" is, at its root, consulting. Each cast member is a subject matter expert sharing their knowledge; each episode's hero is a client of sorts. So, I started to dig into how Karamo, Bobby, Antoni, Tan, and Jonathan went about sharing their knowledge, and trying to make positive, lasting changes, and put together the following presentation to share what I'd found. I hope that this might help others to find a path to doing consulting work in a way that aligns with their values.
